How To Get Your Dog To Lose Weight In One Simple Step

Most ‘how to’ articles offer the reader a ready made program: ‘how to get tighter abs in 2 weeks’, ‘how to save money with a budget’, etc, etc.

So when I set down to write the ‘how to get your dog to lose weight’ article, I thought hard… About how to make the subject more complicated than it already is. Why? Because despite the millions of dollars spend of dog weight loss products, despite the dog ‘obesity epidemic’, the solution is so simple it’s embarrassing.

GIVE YOUR DOG LESS FOOD!

Did you catch that? Let me try again:

GIVE YOUR DOG LESS FOOD!

I don’t mean to be rude, or to embarrass anyone but it really is that simple.

How much less? It depends on your dog but for most very overweight dogs my advice is to cut the food by a 1/3 to 1/2.

Cut mostly on the dry food as that’s where most of the calories are.

You can fill out the difference with cooked vegetables.

By the way, exercise is almost useless at helping weight loss. So don’t think you can exercise your dog out of obesity.

Special weight loss diets help somewhat by bright less calorie-dense. But ultimately you just need to cut down the calories somehow.

So, in case my message didn’t get through, here it is again:

GIVE YOUR DOG LESS FOOD!

And I promise you, it will work.
