Saving Dog Is Great… Just Stay On The Right Side Of The Law!

A Philadelphia Inquirer has an article about ‘big, burly men’ who claim that they are not a the group is not a

‘…bunch of vigilantes out to harass anyone with a pit bull’

But sound exactly like a bunch of vigilantes.

Why am I bringing this article to you? Because it highlights an important point. We all want to help mistreated dogs. Sometimes we just want to go over there and save that poor, neglected dog from the clutches of that terrible person. Right?

But we can’t!

Not without following the dew process, that is. Because is the ‘dog abuser’ takes you to court and you get a criminal record, then you can’t help any other dogs. Not at all. Never again. So as much as we feel emotional and want to do something right now, we need to stay cool and plan and develop a strategy. Because there will be other dogs in the future. And they will need your help. And if you burn yourself up this time then there will not be the next time.

I am a Veterinarian and I have probably saved hundreds of dogs in my life. I am not saying this to boast, just stating a fact. So when I see a dog abuser, I am always courteous and polite. I don’t swear and swing punches because that would be illegal. Right?

Because all I want is to get that dog out of there and if that means controlling my anger for a while, that’s a small price to pay.

And then i get home and swear at the wall. But that’s another story.
