Dogs Don’t Do ‘Vegetarian’

Can you feed your dog a vegetarian diet? Well, the theoretical answer is Yes. Dogs are not cats and will not develop an illness just because they are not fed meat.

Let me qualify this by saying that I do not recommend anyone try to feed their dog meat-free diet because this will most likely lead to nutritional deficiency. As much as we want our pets to be like us, live like us and eat like us, the reality is – dogs are a different species and have different needs.
Maybe they know something we don’t.

In the meantime, to the disappointment to all Green and environmentally friendly owners everywhere, dogs refuse to evolve into an earth-saving green beast and stubbornly demand they be fed a high protein diet.

I might also add a small consolation to all those regretting the pair of suffering animals killed for their dog’s sake – the meat products used in dog food are always byproducts. No farm animal is ever killed for the sake of dog food alone. I don’t know if that makes you feel better or worse but that’s how it is.
